Clear aligners are thin, transparent trays made from a digital 3D plan that move teeth in small steps. Each set is worn about 22 hours a day and changed every 1 to 2 weeks. At MDS Dental every aligner plan is designed and monitored by an MDS orthodontist, and can be combined with attachments, mini-screws or elastics for more complex cases. Simple cases may take 6 to 12 months; complex cases 12 to 24.
How aligners are made
- Digital scanA 3D intraoral scan replaces messy impressions.
- 3D treatment planDr. Mukund plans every movement, stage by stage, and shows you the predicted result.
- PrintingA model of each stage is 3D-printed and an aligner is formed over it.
- Wear and reviewYou switch aligners at home and visit for check-ups every 6 to 10 weeks.
Who are aligners good for?
- Crowding and spacing
- Relapse after previous braces
- Many deep bites, open bites and crossbites when planned well
- Adults who want discreet treatment
Some movements are more predictable with braces. We will tell you plainly which option suits your teeth.
Why orthodontist-led matters
An aligner is only as good as the plan behind it. Direct-to-consumer and unsupervised aligners can tip teeth without controlling roots or the bite. With an orthodontist-led plan, attachments, IPR (gentle polishing between teeth), elastics and refinements are used where the biology needs them.
Who will treat you
Dr. Mukund D. Sawant, MDS (Orthodontics) from PGIMER Chandigarh with All India Rank 1 and residency at AIIMS New Delhi, plans and supervises every clear aligners case at MDS Dental Care & Orthodontics, Badlapur.
